First, I want to thank you for responding and even asking questions.
Secondly, according to my Webster's New World College Dictionary, accountable means "obliged to account for one's acts." Clearly, political accountability and a political party are two different animals and are not mutually exclusive.?
My fundamental point is that no one is organized to oblige politicians to account. And, we have been choosing not to organize for the purpose of having politicians to account to us, the general public, over and over again. As you say, the definition of insanity!
Your question, "Is the way to fix "our" system, to make eveyone accountable?" If everyone means all U. S. Senators and viable candidates for these position, the answer is obviously, YES. The AVA plan will lead directly to fixing the problem of politicians not being obliged to account to us, "the people," for their financial management of our government. BTW, the 12 steps a euphemism ?for January through December.
As per my history in or around the Perot/Reform/IP. I collected signatures for Perot in '92 and have been advocating for accountability, without success, since the summer of '92.?
Finally, I think 5,000,000 members is a statistically significant portion of the probable voting population in most Congressional Districts and States across the nation. By that, I mean too many for any incumbent, or challenger to ignore.?
5,000,000 members would make the change from "unaccountable, politics as usual," to "accountable politics!" I think that is a significant difference.?
Perhaps the challenger being interviewed 3 times prior to an election would be from the IP! Imagine that. Access to demonstrably interested voters at no cost to the candidate.?

Are you adults? Did you not know that a platform convention just might get involved with the platform?
I considered leaving before my platform change came up. I felt that I didn't belong in that room, or in the party. When my turn came, my heart wasn't in it.
On a personal note, since my political viewpoint is so wrapped around the downsizing of the public sector through new technology, and the party is not, perhaps it would be for the best if I find myself a seat outside the party.
It has been nice to meet, and talk to many of you, especially Peter, Jack Uldrich, Peter Hutchinson, Red and the meetup groups.
